Susan, your information is very interesting. Brothers Rhodam/Rhody and John DAFFRON who both served during the Rev. War and their father, Michael, are the only ones I have heard of who would be contemporaries in time and location with the lady you seek.

Rhody, in his Rev. War pension application, said he was born in Maryland in 1756. John applied twice and said he was born in 1760 or '61 in Fairfax Co., VA. Both said they entered military service from Randolph Co., NC.

Randolph Co. was formed from the southern half of Guilford Co. in 1779, during the Rev. War. I thought perhaps the DAFFRONs would appear in Guilford records but have found no mention.

John DAFFRON's widow, Sarah (Sally), in her application for a widow's pension said she and John were married by Baptist minister the Rev. Richard SHACKELFORD in the summer of 1781. Census records show that John remained in Randolph Co., NC through 1800 and then appeared in Spartanburg Dist., SC in 1810. The Rev. SHACKELFORD moved from Halifax Co., VA to Spartanburg Dist., SC in the early 1780s with no indication that he sojourned in North Carolina. Perhaps a case of Sarah misremembering.

I have just begun collecting records from Maryland and Virginia. So far I have one deed from Fairfax Co., VA, dated 31 Oct 1749, in which Michael DAFFRON & Peter RAST of Cople Parish in Westmoreland Co., VA sell a parcel of land in Fairfax Co.

Other records show DAFFRONs/DAFFERNE's/DAFFERN's/DAFFORN's/DAFFENY's in St. Mary's and Dorchester Cos., MD and in Westmoreland Co., VA there are Machael and Marshall DAFFRON and Marshall's two children, Vincent and Mary.

None of this addresses your specific quest but perhaps it will be of some use. I would be pleased to share with you.
