One of my ancestors, Isaac Priestley, married Elizabeth Daft of Hickling in 1736 at St. Nicholas Church Nottingham. Elizabeth was baptised at Hickling on 30th May 1707 and her parents were William and Rebekah Daft. Elizabeth and Isaac Priestley moved to Barton in Fabis, Nottinghamshire and Elizabeth`s parents died there.
The Thomas Daft you refer to is after the date of my interest in the family. However it may be possible that we have a connection further back. Although I know of Elizabeth Daft`s parents (William & Rebekah Daft) there is doubt as to the parents of William. He could have been either the son of Robert & Joan Daft or the son of George & Ann Daft. At the present time I do not know who are the correct parents
There is a web-site for Hikling village and I think the best way to find it is to log onto:
www.genealogy-links.co.uk/
This site has a lot of information relating to Nottinghamshire and if you scan down there is a item for HICKLING.
