this is what i find out about your John Craig
John Craig. born in Uilaborg, Finland in 1853, emigrated to Eastern Canada when he was a young man. While in Three Rivers, he married Selena Sauvageau. They had two children: Harry, born in 1897 and Flora was in 1881, when they moved to Duluth, Minnesota where John was a teamster in the bush. Four more children were born in the U.S.A.: Celina in 1885, Edith (called Ida) in 1890, Willie, born in 1892 and Eddie in 1894. In 1903 they decided to try the ir luck in the vast prairies of Western Canada. With family and friends, they took homesteads in what is now the Marcelin district, where they farm edfor a number of years. In 1913, John Craig sold his farm to Mr. Quesnel, and opened a shoemaker shop in the village, on Railway Avenue, North. He built his house close to the old town site, so he had his daily half-mile walk to get to work. He retired completely in 1917 because of ill health and after an operation for stomach cancer (in Rochester, U.S.A.) he passed away in 1919. Mrs. Selena Craig stayed by herself in her own home until she was about ninety. She then moved in with her son Eddie for a few months, then to her other son's, Willie, for a couple of years. Her daughter Flora, of Spiritwood, then took her in and cared for her until she died in 1948 at the age of ninety-eight.
