Charles Faulkner had been previously married to Marie-Louise Martineau (daughter of Jacques Martineau and MArguerite Groulx) on September 16, 1823 at Sault-au-Recollet, Ile-de-Montreal, Quebec, Canada. On that marriage record his parents are mentioned as the late Charles Faulkner and Marie Gilmore.

Charles' brother Edouard also married at Sault-au-Recollet to Marie Chartrand (daughter of Jean-Baptiste Chartrand and Marie-Louise Guilbault) on January 15, 1840.
