My SMOTHERS line is related by marriage to the DAGGETT/HOLLIDAY lines in a convoluted sort of way.
Hartwell Oren DAGGETT married Parmelia HOLLIDAY 2-Oct 1853 in Marion Co., IL. (Hartwell was the son of Oren DAGGETT and Elizabeth MYERS.) After Hartwell died 1864-1865 (Civil War), Parmelia married Cyrus VAUGHN 29-March 1866 in Marion Co., IL, and they had at least 4 children (Josiah, Benjamin, Maria, and Susan VAUGHN). It was Cyrus VAUGHN's second marriage also. Parmelia died 12 Feb 1910 in IL, and
Cyrus died Jan 1892 in Marion Co., IL
Cyrus VAUGHN's first marriage was to Susan SMOTHERS. They were married 13 Oct 1840 in Sumner Co., TN, and had at least 11 children. They moved their family to Wayne, Co., IL, area about 1850. Susan died in Dec 1861 in Wayne Co., IL.
Susan SMOTHERS, b 11 Jan 1822 in TN, is thought to be the daughter of Edmond SMOTHERS, who is my ggg grandfather.
I have little in my files on Parmelia HOLLIDAY other than her father was a Joshua HOLLIDAY. Can you tell me more about Parmelia's parents and siblings? If so, please contact me by email smothers@dca.net
