More on famous naval officer Dahlgren

You may have more than one connection to the Monitor. In addition to the designer you mentioned, the two guns on the monitor were designed by a Dahlgren and called Dahlgren guns. Dahlgren Hall at Annapolis is also named after this same person Dahlgren. According to another writer on this site, Admiral Dahlgren was considered the Father of Naval Ordinance. Until recently, there was a retired naval cruiser at Norfolk also named for him. It's keel was laid in 1958, it was launched in 1960, decommissioned in 92, and sold for scrap in 1999.
