Just came across your message as I was trying to get a lead on my Dahlmann roots. My gr-gr-grandfather was Fredrick Wilhelm (Von)Dahlmann. THe "Von" got dropped at some point, certainly by the time my great-grandfather, Julius Fredrich Dahlmann (born 1835 probably in Duisberg, Rhine Province, Germany) settled in Missouri. I am thinking it is possible that your Fredric W.Dahlmann may have been a brother of Julius? It may be a long shot but I am searching for any leads.....
