James & John Daily both served War of 1812, TN Militia.John didn't receive a pension, don't know much about him.James was b 1793 in Chester Dist., SC.I believe James may have been a brother of Mary "Polly" Daley who m 30 Jan 1815 in Roane co, TN to John E. Nelson (my ancestors).James was discharged Nov 1814 at Kingston, Roane co, TN, died in Elizabethton, Carter co. TN.His widow removed to Smyth (formerly Wythe) co, VA.

3 March 1855, Smyth co, VA, Affidavit for BLW:Elizabeth Daily age 60 years states she is wid of James Daily deceased, a private in company commanded by Captain Bible, East Tennessee Militia commanded by Col. Coulter.Said husband enlisted at Green Co. Ten in 1812 or 13 for six months, and was honorably discharged at Kingston, Ten on the ____ day of ____ AD.States married James Daily in Chesterville SC 8 Jan 1818 by one John Boyd a JP and her maiden name was Elizabeth Clinton; that her husband died at Elizabethton, Tenessee 24 Jan 1835.Elizabeth (her X mark) Daily.

16 July 1878, Certificate of Pension [original number 29.136] issued to Elizabeth Daily of Marion, Smyth Co., VA, widow of James Daily of Capt. Hale's Co., Service War of 1812, indicating James Daily died "January 25th, 1834".
22 March 1879, Smyth County, Virginia, Affidavit of Elizabeth Daily to John Iron, JP stating she is widow of James Daily, applicant for pension.James Daily was drafted in the month of November 1813 in Militia from County of Green, State of Tennessee under Capt. Joseph Hail and was discharged May 1814; confirmed in this by statement of Samuel Mathery who was a messmate of her husband, who died 24 Jan 1834.S/S Elizabeth (her X mark) Daily.

3 Sep 1881 [Date stamped received at Knoxville, Tenn by D.S. Boynton, Pension Agt] from U.S. Pension Agency stating Elizabeth Dailey was last paid $8.00 to 24 April, dropped because of death."Paid Samuel B. Henritze on 'R.O.' from 4 Mch 1880 to 24 Apl 1880 $13.60".
