I'm just dipping my toe into the genealogy waters. It's interesting to read the messages about my family name. I didn't think it was such a well spread name until I looked up this site. My father (Leonard 1920-1997) was born and bred in Leeds, Yorkshire. His father (John William Dalby 1890?-1954) likewise lived all his life in Leeds. My family emigrated to Perth in 1962. I get the impression that my father's family had lived in Yorkshire for many generations. He had a number of siblings (it's a bit foggy to me) they were Ernest and Arthur and sisters Betty and Margaret (Peggy). Only Ernest and Len lived in Australia with their families.
