John Dalgarno - 1880 - 1900 ish
Posted by: Tom MacGruer (ID *****1068) Date: November 12, 2004 at 15:04:28
  of 188

I am interested in finding out more information about this man. I believe he joined the Highland Light Infantry about 1882 as John Dalgarno, and was awarded a medal in 1891 for service in India. He then appears and is awarded a medal for service during the Boer War in South Africa in 1899-1902 when he was wounded at Wirpoort in August 1900, but his name at this time is John Fraser. His residence at that time (1900) is given as Causewayside in Edinburgh.

I don't know why he changed his name, or if he was born as a Dalgarno or Fraser.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, and I am happy to reimburse any costs for copying etc.

Thanks

Tom
