Hello Paul, Thanks for your reply, I am the 2nd son of Frederick Albert Dalgarno 1914-1996, your father Alfies brother.
My Query that you answered is quite old, this is what I know today. The Dalgarno name in London only seems to come in after abt 1861,before that it was Dulgarno. William James Dulgarno married Mary Ann Flower, his first wife in
Aug 25 1851 St John, Waterloo, Surrey Ref. Lambeth 4 355.
Their first 4 Children were all Baptised as Dulgarno, the 5th child Garibaldi was baptised in 1861 as Dalgarno, Mary Ann Flower disappears at this point & is replaced by Rebecca as William Js wife, two further children are born William & Harry, I have never found a marriage for Rebecca & William J, nor a birth registration for William & Harry, also no Death cert. for Mary Ann Flower.
William Js birth was probably abt 1829 as per the 41 & 51 census, he is shown in the 1841 census with his brother Alexander & mother Mary, Mary was born Shropshire about 1795. Mary Dulgarno widow of James Dulgarno (A Baker). Died 4th February 1857 of Bronchitis aged 62 at 13 Derby Road, Hackney. Alexander Dulgarno present at the death. William J & Alexanders father was presumably, James Dulgarno who died in Bethnal Green in 1839 aged 45, Mary Dulgarno was present at the death.
