MARION KATHERINE DALGLEISH 1905 - 2005. Marion passed away on November 4, 2005 at home while sitting in her favourite chair with a cup of tea beside her. Marion was born February 22, 1905. The Dalgleish family lived on a ranch at Jone's Coulee, south of Swift Current, in what was then the Northwest Territories. In January 1911, the family moved north to Melfort, where Marion's father built the farmhouse that still stands south of Naisberry Jct. Marion attended schools in Central Park, Melfort High School, Beaver Dams, Ontario and Normal school in Saskatoon during 1923 and later in 1927. She taught in Piapot and Birch Hills returning in 1933 to the family farm. In the 1960's she was able to spend winters in Victoria and later in Oceanside, California. In 1993 moved to Saskatoon, where she lived on her own in good health. Marion has lived an extraordinary life, seeing things unfold throughout the century as none of us can imagine. The province of Saskatchewan honoured her earlier this year as her 100 years coincided with Saskatchewan's. Her 100th birthday was celebrated in Saskatoon this past July 2 with 50 members of her family. Although our Auntie had no children of her own she was the cherished matriarch of our Dalgleish family. Auntie, with her radiant smile and her caring, twinkling eyes touched everyone's lives like a comforting, warm, cheery ray of sunshine. She charmed everyone she met and lived and died with dignity. Marion was predeceased by her father Robert Dalgleish, her mother Mary Elizabeth Kearney, her brothers Arthur of Hudson Bay, Harold of Saskatoon , and John of Melfort, and her lifelong friend Len Barrett. She is survived by her sister-in-law Jean Dalgleish of Melfort, her nieces Betty Harold of Vancouver, Margaret Rogers of Melfort, Elizabeth Zemmels, Patricia Dalgleish, and Julia Dalgleish Sauter, all of Nelson, BC, nephews Robert Dalgleish of Saskatoon, Graeme Dalgleish of Maidstone, their spouses and children, and her cherished friend Wanda Morris. Marion requested no service and her cremated remains will be buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Melfort with her parents. For so many lives you enriched, for so much love you gave and inspired, we thank you Auntie. Arrangements have been entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME
