I am descended from Eliza Ann Dall who married George Washington Foreman in 1850 in Delaware County, Ohio. Various censuses indicate that she was born in Canada. An informal writeup by Zelma Linch Vance in the early 1980s included the following: "Grandmother Linch was the daughter of Eliza Ann Dall and George Washington Foreman. Eliza's father, James, came from England, and was a member of the Church of England. Her mother, Bridget, was born in Ireland and was a Catholic. Tradition has it that the fathers of both James and Bridget were Captains in the English Army. (Bridget's father, Hamilton McDonald, is said to have come to the St. Lawrence River Valley, Canada.)" At another point, "Eliza Ann Dall was born on December 30, 1830 near Quebec, Canada. She was one of eight children. Eliza was about four years old when she came to the United States [about 1834] and I'm told she spoke French fluently." There was also a Mary Dall (age 18) in Hamilton Co., Ohio, in mid-1850. Perhaps she was Eliza Ann's sister. Do either of you have records of Eliza ann Dall or her father James Dall?
