Dallings of Portsmouth, NH

Hi,

I'm looking for anyone who might be descended from or related to a Dalling family that lived in Portsmouth, NH, during the late 1700s. There was a Samuel Dalling who was a merchant captain who died around 1788 at age 77. He had a son named Thomas who was a privateer captain during the Revolution and died in 1785. Thomas had a son named John Rose Dalling, about whom I don't know much. I believe Samuel's mother was an Abbot, and he married a Mehitable Peavey. I think he also had a brother named Stacy. I am especially interested in anyone who might have family papers, particularly items relating to Samuel and Thomas' seafearing exploits. I am exploring whether anyone in the family had a slave or servant named Benjamin. I am researching a Benjamin who was supposedly freed after saving his ship captain master's life. Samuel also owned land in the Georgetown, Maine, area where the Benjamin I am researching ended up.

If anyone has any information on this line, I would appreciate a note.

Cheers-Allen
