Henrietta Charlotte Damaschke 1882 Detroit(?)

My mother and I are doing research into our family history and we have some questions.

My paternal grandfather's mother's maiden name was Henrietta Charlotte (or Karlotte[?]) Damaschke. All we know is that she came to the USA at about age 18 (in 1882) and that she was a German Evangelical immigrant (Evangelical meaning Lutheran, not the common view of Evangelical). Here are our questions:

1.) Where did she come from? After all, "German" is a very wide scope of limitation.

2.) Where was she born and raised/lived in? Just because she met the boat at one city does not necessarily came from that city.

3.) What about her parents and ancestors?

Any help would be appreciated. You could contact me either in this forum or at dlebutjr@aol.com.
