My name is Adele Damian and my brother's name is Anthony Damian. My late Dad's name was Anthony also. My grandfather, Luigi Damiani, came from Bari, Italy. There he and his family was in the tailoring business. He came to New York in the early 1900's, and later owned a coat and suit factory. I was born Adeline Damiani. My grandfather and other relatives took off the letter i. My name was legally changed to Damian when I was a child. So, basically, I believe that any Damian's whose name was shortened, probably originally came from southern Italy. I hope this info is helpful. Good luck!
