Hi Jan,
I thought you might enjoy looking over the original information I received on my Dana line. I scanned this from the original yellowed, torn & smudged document. The scanner tried to recognize each smudge, and had difficulty with the typewriter font—I hope I didn’t miss any mistakes in my editing. The information has proven to be generally, but not always accurate, and the unknown compiler included virtually no source notes. As you will note, the author generally included only those persons of our direct line, not their siblings.

DANA FAMILY
1. Richard Dana, the progenitor of the many celebrated Men of that name in America, was French Huguenot, who by way of England came to America about 1640. William, father of Richard, was Sheriff of Middlesex, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth. Richard was an early inhabitant of Cambridge, Mass, resided on south side of river. He married Ann Bullard, of whose history nothing further can be obtained: They had 12 children. He died from a fall in his barn, Apr. 2, 1692. His wife died probably July 15, 1711, The Danas in America claim descent from him.
2. Benjamin, son of Richard, b. Feb. 20, 1661-2, married Mary Buckmaster, May 24, 1688; died Aug. 13, 1738, aged 78 years.
3. Benjamin, son of Benjamin, b. Apr. 28, 1689, married Anna, daughter of John Francis. Benjamin, was a captain, died June 5, 1751, aged 62 years.
4. Francis, son of Benjamin, b, Brighton, Mass. Feb. 6, 1737. Died at Waitsfield, Vt. Feb. 6, 1813, aged 76 years, He married Jan. 14, 1768, Eleanor Foster. She died at Waitsfield, Vt. Oct. 15, 1821. They resided at Roxbury, Mass., Cornish, N.H., and Waitsfield, Vt. He was a member of the Militia at Cornish, in 1776. He was a farmer and tanner by trade. He had seven children.
5. Anna Dana, youngest child of Francis, married David Randall, June 20, 1816. She was born at Cornish, N.H., and died at Fayston, Vt. about 1822. She had two children:
i. Foster Dana Randall.
ii. Anna Percilla Randall.
6. Foster Dana Randall, b. Feb. 141 1817, at Fayston, Vt. Died Aug. 12, 1891, at Hyde Park, Vt., married (1) Pamelia Barrett, Mar. 3, 1840, She died May 22, 1842; (2) Rhoda Wheeler, b. Apr. 15, 1819, Died Apr. 14, 1847; (3) Louisa Blake Bryant, at Hyde Park, Vt. June 30, 1847. She died at Morristown, Vt. Sept. 1906. He had two daughters, Pamelia Ann, b. June 10, 1844, by Rhoda Wheeler, and Rhoda Louisa., b. Apr. 2, 1949, died Oct. g, 1883, by Louisa Blake Bryant.
7. Pamelia Ann Randall, daughter of Foster Dana Randall, married Charles Henry Reed, Oct. 10, 1869, at Hyde Park, Vt. She was born at Fayston, Vt. and died May 26, 1925, at Hastings, Minn. She had two children:
i. Dana Charles, b. Aug. 3, 1870.
ii. Merton H., b. July 29, 1875.

FAMILY OF FRANCIS DANA
Francis 4 (Benjamin 3 Benjamin 2 Richard 1) Dana, son of Capt. Benjamin Dana, and Anna Francis, was born at Brighton, Mass, Feb. 6, 1737, and died at Waitsfield, Vt., Feb. 6, 1813. He married Jan. 14, 1768, Eleanor Foster. She died at Waitsfield, Vt. Oct. 15, 1821. They resided at Roxbury, Mass., Cornish, N.H. and Waitsfield, Vt. He was a tanner by trade, also a farmer.
Their children:
1, Eunice, born at Roxbury, Mass. Aug. 7, 1765. She married Enoch Emerson, of Rochester, Vt. Lived and died there, May 22, 1522. Left seven children. We have no record of her marriage, but think it was 1790, for her oldest child was born Apr. 15, 1791.
2. Henry, born Nov. 12, 1769, at Roxbury, Mass, and died at Waitsfield, Vt., Mar. 28, 1851, He was twice married. He married first Martha Pike, June 22, 1790, She died at Waitsfield, Jan, 27, 1818, He then Married Sally Slack, We have no record of second marriage. He and first wife lived at Cornish, N. H., and Waitsfield, Vt. The second wife died at Warren, Vt. in the fall of 1861. Henry was a farmer. He had nine children.
3. Foster. born at Cornish, N.H. June 11, 1774, died at Warren, Vt., Aug, 6, 1851. He was twice married; of his first wife we only know that her first name was Priscilla, and that she died May 2, 1809, aged 32 years, at Waitsfield, Vt. He then married Priscilla Dutton, 1810, she died at Warren, Vt., Feb. 1852. Foster was a farmer. He lived at Cornish, N.H. Waitsfield, and Warren, Vt. He had seven children.
4. Stephen, born at Cornish, N.H. Apr. 6, 1775. This is all the information we have of him.
5. Nathan, born at Cornish, N.H. June 7, 1790. Died at Waitsfield, Mar. 14, 1813. Unmarried, lived with his parents.
6. Eleanor, born at Cornish, N.H. Jan, 17, 1785. She married Job House, of Waitsfield; we have no date of her marriage. She lived and died at Waitsfield, July 25, 1859. She had six children.
7. Anna, married David Randall, June 20, 1816. She was born at Cornish, N.H. We think she lived her married life in Fayston, and died in Fayston.
8. Anna Dana, was mother of Foster Dana Randall.
9. Pamelia Ann Randall, daughter of Foster Dana Randall, married Charles Henry Reed, Oct. 10, 1869.

COLLATERAL LINES OF DANA FAMILY
Deacon John Cooper, born 1615, came to Cambridge, Mass. before May 1636, was prominent citizen, selectman 38 years, 1646-90, Town Clerk, 13 years, 1669-51. He married Anna, daughter of Nath'l. Sparhawk; had several children. His daughter married John Francis.
Nath'l. Sparhawk, was in Cambridge, Mass. as early as 1636, was deacon of the church. His daughter Anna married Deacon John Cooper. He appears to have owned in 1642, five houses, and about 500 acres of land, which quantity was afterwards increased after his death about 1000 acres were sold from his estate, leaving a large quantity of land on the south side of river, a part of which still remains in possession of his descendants. He was permitted to draw wine and strong water for Cambridge, 1639. He died June 28, 1647, aged probably about 50 years.
FRANCIS FAMILY LINE
1. Richard Francis, was an early resident of Cambridge, Mass. By his wife Alice, he had three children:
i. Stephen, b. Feb. 7, 1644-5.
ii. Sarah, b. Dec. 4, 1646.
iii. John, b. Jan. 4, 1649-50.
iv. Richard, died Mar. 24, 1686-7, aged 81 years.
2. John Francis, son of Richard, married Lydia, daughter of Deacon John Cooper. Had 10 children.
3. Anna Francis, b. Nov. 2, 1697, daughter of John Francis, married Capt. Benjamin Dana, July 23, 1724.
4. Francis Dana, b. Feb. 6, 1737 at Brighton, Mass. son of Anna Francis and Capt. Benjamin Dana, died Feb. 6, 1813, at Waitsfield, Vt. Lived in Cornish, N.H. Was a member of the Militia of Cornish in 1776. Had seven children.
5. Anna Dana, daughter of Francis, b. at Cornish, N.H. married David Randall, June 20, 1916. Died at Fayston, Vt. about 1822. She had two children.
6. Foster Dana Randall, b. Feb. 14, 1517, at Fayston, Vt. married Rhoda Wheeler. He had one daughter by Rhoda Wheeler.
7. Pamelia Ann Randall, daughter of the above, married Charles Henry Reed, Oct. 10, 1869. They had two sons,
