Danahy's in Iowa, Neb., and Missouri
Posted by: D. Danahy Date: April 20, 2001 at 18:09:08
  of 45

My 2nd Great Grandfather was John Michael Danahy. Born in Ireland July 5,1852, died October 25, 1902. This information was gotten from Woodmen of the World, and off of his headstone. But according to the 1900 census he was born in 1846, and came to the United States in 1859. Also on the census it ask about naturalization, and the response was NA. What does this mean? John married Margaret Murphy, she came to the United States from Ireland in 1863. They had a son, my great grandpa, John Joseph Danahy, born 1880, Iowa, died 1963 in Howell County Missouri. Then at sometime the family moved to Neb. and they had 5 more children, Andrew born 1882, Patrick born 1884, Ellen born 1888, Hannah born 1891, Maggie born 1893. Around 1894 or 1895 it is believed that the family moved to Missouri. If anyone has any information on this family it would be very helpful to me. I will also share any information I have collected.
Thank You
