Hello fellow Dando listers, in particular - Hi to Susan and Connie!
I have a little more information on my George DANDO b. 3 April 1838, Wales, father Lloyd DANDO. I believe his aunt to have been a Mary Ann MAGGS (nee' DANDO) b. 1814, d. 12 December 1865, Mary Ann Maggs, age 51, St Gwynno, Llanwonno, Glamorgan. Unfortunately there is no headstone or it is illegible as it is not on the Llanwynno Monumental Inscriptions.
Mary Ann MAGGS (nee DANDO) married Frank MAGGS, and after she died in 1865, Frank MAGGS married the mother of George DANDO's wife, Tryphena (no known surname). Children of Frank MAGGS and Mary Ann DANDO MAGGS were Esther Maggs born 3 Jul 1856, Wales and Frank MAGGS, Jr. born 5 Aug 1851 in England.
The happy clan all ran like the dickens for Ohio in the end of 1867 when Frank MAGGS ended up killing his opponent in a bare knuckles boxing match! Frank ran first, and Geroge DANDO drew up the rear, of course having to be in charge of Frank's children as well as his own.
Any information leading to the apprehension of this DANDO/MAGGS family will be rewarded with lots of loving cousins and a free bare knuckles boxing lesson...Just kidding!!!! BTW, Frank also kept a fighting cock on his bedrail just in case someone wanted a fight!
Thank you for listening to another sordid genealogy tail.
