Dandridge/Slaughter connection

Hello Dandridge researchers. I am looking for a connection between the Dandridge and Slaughter families in Virginia in the 1700s. My ggggg grandfather, Dandridge Slaughter, was born in Hanover County, VA about 1775. He had three siblings, including two brothers names John and Ezekiel. Legend has it their father died in the Revolutionary War and they were raised by an uncle (perhaps Martin Slaughter) in Patrick Co., VA. I am searching for Dandridge's parents. The fact that he was named "Dandridge" makes me think there may be a connection with the Dandridge family in Hanover Co. Any help you can provide will be much appreciated.
