I think I may be able to help. I was brought up on the Isle of Sheppey (born 1946) and my great grandfather (Thomas Abraham D.) moved there to work in the dockyard in about 1886 from the family home in Canterbury (I have a photo of him and the houses). His half brother William was recorded as living at this address in the 1881 census - born 1879. TA was born in 1863.This half brother was only discovered by me recently in looking at the 1881 census and I know nothing about him. The only other evidence I have is that he attended my great grandfather's funeral (I have the cutting) on Sheppey in 1930 with his wife, Gwen and two children William and Gwen. This Williams grandfather was William Thomas and died in 1872 in Clerkenwell. I have his Will and many other family papers kept because of family property in Bekesbourne. I have done a fair bit of work on the family tree but I have always been mystified by this William. It could be that we could help each other solve some mysteries. If so please get in touch.
