Greetings. As your name is Edwin, I wonder if it is a coincidence that the brother of my ggfather was Edwin Gream Daniell. Is Edwin perhaps a traditional family name in your line? What about Gream? Their father was Cyrus Daniell. Cyrus? (Possibly from London or Surrey). All were army officers, Cyrus in Napoleonic War (Spain and France) and then in South Africa and India, and his sons were army officers in India and China (Opium War). My ggfather Charles Augustus Daniell was eventually Town Major of Cape Town. Augustus? He died in Godalming, England. Do any of these clues strike a chord?
Joe Falkiner (in South Africa)
