Hi,
Thanks for your reply. It was Rebecca HOWE and not Rachel and probably the reason she was not mentioned was because she was dead. Stephen Bedon DANIELL married Rebecca in 1769 and her sister, Anne Goodlet HOWE, later. Even later he married a Mary Michael DANIELL, daughter of Robert DANIELL and Amelia LEWIS -- a cousin.
Yes, I know Ken. He is on the DANIEL list of which I am the Administrator.
There are several things that bother me about some of the DANIELL information, especially about John and Sarah's children, especially William DANIELL, Sr. (1743-1840) of Bogart, Clarke County, GA.
I find it somewhat difficult to believe the life spans of John and Sarah's children. Most only lived into their 60's, if that, yet William, Sr. lived to age 97 but his father only to age 72. Statistically, things like that normally do not happen.
Also, John's home in New Hanover County, NC was named Tom Bells after its former owner. Also, Stephen B. DANIELL served in the same SC regiments as a William DANIEL (1747-1807) of Edgefield, SC who married a Lucretia BELL (1757-1825) of Sussex County, VA. Coincidence, I do not know.
I jsut think there is something missing here and some of this stuff may not be exactly correct. I also know the DAVIS and MELTON famies were in Burke County, GA where my DANIEL bunch was from and their naming pattern is very close to the DANIELL naming pattern. I also know their oldest daughter was named "Milly" but her given name was Amelia DANIEL (1795-before 1860) and she married a William P. TAYLOR about 1815 in Burke County, GA.
One researcher has assinged my DANIEL bunch to a David DANIEL (1742-after 1814)of Elbert County, GA but that is incorrect and they have no proof of this assignement.
My best bet is the parent of my DANIEL bunch was a Robert C. DANIEL (about 1765-about 1830) and a Penelope (1773-1846), possibly LANE. In Penelope's 1846 obit it says she and Robert migrated from NC to GA about 1812, which fits the time pattern for the DANIELL's migration from NC to GA. This was also quite unlike most of the other DANIELS that migrated to GA from NC and VA right after the Revolution.
I do not know how it is going to boil out when we get through DNA testing but it should give us some general idea how these DANIEL and DANIELL families are layed out...
