I don't know why my Grandfather Wm. Noah Daniel chose to drop the "l" in his name. Maybe it was because he was starting a new life in Texas and wanted to leave the hardships of the past behind him. He none the less was very pround of his Georgia roots where he was born and his Daniel(l) ancestors whom he told me about.
But I am sure if he had known he would have to justify long after his death why he changed his name, I am sure he would have told that person that this country is great because we have the freedom to do what we want. Today I have the privilage to be not only proud of my Daniel ancestory, but my Daniell ancestory and that no one can take from me.
