Thanks for the information. I will post it on the DANIEL Mailing List at Rootsweb which I run.
I do not know whether I am related to this Robert Grier DANIEL but my cousin, Dr. Anne KILKPATRICK of Atlanta, d/o Irby Thomas KILPATRICK and Eva Pauline RICHTER of Madison, stated that her mother, Eva, told her in the late 1930's that this DANIEL family was related to her. This conversation was during the time that Ann was in graduate school at the University of Michigan, after finishing her undergraduate work at UGA, where she was the President of the Hellenic Council. Her older brother was Martin Edward KILPATRICK, Esq. -- the founder of what is now Kilpatrick & Stockton, PC in Atlanta. Her sister was Hallie KILPATRICK who married Harry MEHRE, Sr., then the University of GA head football coach.
Eva Paulin RICHTER was the d/o Martin L. RICHTER, Sr. and Hallie Elise RIVERS of Madison. Martin "Mat" was an older brother of my grandfather, John C. RICHTER, Sr. (1848-1907), also of Madison, who married Alice Elizabeth DANIEL (1854-1924) of Bethany, now Wadley, Jefferson County, GA. She was the d/o Robert William DANIEL, Esq. (1809-1865) whose parents we think were a Robert C. DANIEL or DANIELL of the 65th MD, Burke County, GA. All we know about his ancestry is that he moved to Burke in 1812 from NC.
None of this bunch was what you call "poor" and "uneducated." They were what we call, professionals, today, but farming was still an underlying theme in this family. They were not as rich as the BRYANS, WALKERS or WALTONS but were not too far behind them.

I know what Robert Grier DANIEL did for a living (ran a cotton mill) and he does match the profile of my bunch. I have a picture of my GGF, Robert W. DANIEL taken in Savannah ABT 1863, if you would like to view it for family similarities. We think his mother was a LANE but are not sure. She may well have been a d/o Levin LANE and Penelope BRYAN.

I have all too many collaterals in the Charleston area for my DANIEL bunch not to be related to the DANIELL bunch of Charleston. However, in genealogy, anything is possible.

Any information is appreciated........
