Thank you so much for the information. Unfortunately I haven't looked at all the parish registers in the region and haven't picked up Shenley yet. If I come across Thomas (I don't have any records at present) I'll certainly let you know. I'm not member of Ancestry at present, but when I do I'll see if they have got anything.

There seems to be a large number of Daniel/Daniels/Daniell families in the area so if we can all swap information maybe all the families can join up. Like you, though,I am completely stuck as my John moved into the area and I have no idea where from, so can't trace his parents!
