DANIEL/DANIEL Family
Posted by: John R. Clarke Date: October 28, 2000 at 19:46:47

I am looking for information on a Robert Williams DANIEL b. c1810 and married a Rachel about 1830. In 1840 they live in Burke County, GA. In 1850 they live in Jefferson County, GA.

The 1840 Burke census indicates they have a son born about 1830 and a daughter born about 1835. The 1850 Jefferson County census states they have a daughter name Nancy born c1843, a daughter Mary born c1848 and a son James b. c. 1849.

In 1852 Robert DANIEL marries Mary Jane RENEAU and they have William R. b. 1853 and Alice Elizabeth b. 1854. In 1860 they live in Bethany, Jefferson County, GA. Robert dies 1863-1865 and the family moves to Madison, Morgan County, GA.

Known siblings of Robert W. DANIEL are a James L. DANIEL b. c.1813 in GA and a Sarah DANIEL b. 1801. James marries twice, the second one is named Ann, possibly PERRY. First wife of James is unknown. Sarah marries a WISE and has children named Council D., James and Chesley.

James has one child that I know of, a Nancy C. DANIEL who marries a DONOVON, possibly a Timothy or William DONOVAN and she has two children, a Robert N. DONOVAN and a Marta C. DONOVON, both born prior to 1861.

One of the main reasons I think this family is tied to the SC DANIELL family is the middle name given to a daughter of William Russell DANIEL, Robert's youngest son born in 1845 --the middle name was VEREEN and VEREEN was one of the very close colatteral families of the DANIELL family in SC. In addition, all location information tends to point towards Edgefield, SC and before that Horry, SC with Laurens, SC a possibility.

We also know their father was named James D. DANIEL, according to the will of Ann DANIEL, James's second wife.

Possible or known collateral families are: WISE, PERRY, RENEAU, COUNCIL, ERWIN, DONOVAN and RICHTER.

Any information you can provide me on this family is appreciated.
