I am interested in your Dann's from Sussex. I have a gg.grandfather, Joseph Dan/n b. unknown but probably around 1800 who married Susannah MILES at Christ Church and St Leonards, Foster Lane, City of London in 1828. Susannah is, per obit, b. Sussex, England, and we believe that probably Joseph was also.
We have been unable to locate Joseph's birth to date, but know he died around March 19, 1856 in/near Liverpool where the family moved, between 1831 and 1833. The 2 eldest children, Joseph and William, were baptised at E.Grinstead, Sussex, the next 4 at St. Peter Parish, Liverpool. We have no idea why they left London area. Susannah and children moved to USA the same year Joseph died [1856]. Do you know when your Dann's left England???? In the same time frame as my Dann's or in the 1830's????
There is a family rumor that some of the Dann's went to Australia...NZ is close enough! We have never been able to find anything about that at all.
Would love to hear from you...however, my email address will be changing 1/25 so if you don't post a follow up here, I will contact you next week sometime at your personal address.
Oh, Joseph and Susan's children were: Joseph, William, George, Ann, Henry, Alfred.
