Hi Beryl and Jo Ellen!
I am also researching the Danns in Sussex. Mu 3Xg grandfather, David Dann, chr, 1795, Wartling, SX, had a brother John, Chr. 1805in Herstmonceux. Their parents were David Dann (abt 1768-1849), married in 1793 to Marry Morris (1771-1848). David had brothers named John, Joseph,Jesse, Abraham, and Peter Matesten . Their parents were John Dann and Frances Ford, m 1753 in Wartling, SX. I found a family tree that my Dann family fits into on the Ancestry.com web site. Search the Ancestry World Tree for Obed Dann(brother of my 2Xg grandma Sarah Ann, son of my 3Xg grandfather, David). That's the easiest name to use, it's unusual, and he had no children. 3 Obed's come up, all the same person, all by the same submitter. Click on his pedigree, and follow it on up. Does it look like any of this may be your family?
Sarah Ann, many of her brothers, and her Dad came to the US between 1846-1857, (at different times).
Good luck in your search!
