Okay, my Dann's came to USA in 1856, do not know yet what port but I'd guess NY as there were already Dann's in NY but we don't know yet if/how they are related as they were here long before mine were.As far as I know they went directly to IL.HOWEVER, the oldest son, Joseph, is in Cincinnati OH area even as early as 1860....so, did they all start in OH and then go on to IL or did Joseph meet his wife on the way to IL and they went on to OH. Or did the family go first to OH and then to IL?We really don't know, but those are the only 2 states we know of for sure.
The 2nd oldest child, Wm., is known to be in Arlington, Va. in 1865 but have no idea if he was ever in either IL or OH or if he went immediately on arrival in USA to VA?Other than that contact with him per a document in 1865, we have never been able to get any information on Wm. at all.At least we have info on Joseph to 1870 census and in 1889 when his mother died he is still listed as living in OH; whereas Wm. is not listed as a survivor at all so assume he has already died by that time.
I'm in N. Muskegon.I have some Pierce/Thornton 'relatives' in Barry county at Dowling cemetery.Am trying to locate their children but no luck so far. Are you any where near Dowling?
