Dear Jo Ellen,

The 1828 marriage would have been in the London church and not East Grinstead. I don't know anything more about Joe Sr than what's in the IGI or whether he is in fact another son of James D & Mary Marden. James was probably baptised in Maidstone (not Loose as I said where his father was baptised). He married Mary Marden rather hurriedly in Oct 1770 at Tonbridge since their first daughter Margaret was baptised in Feb 1771 at Tonbridge. The other 5 offspring recorded on the IGI were baptised at East Grinstead. James Hugh Ryse (Price on death cert.) April 1773, Henry Newman Nov 1774, Thomas Marden & Henry Newman Mar 1778, Charlotte Jun 1783.

If Joe Sr is another sibling then he may fit between Margaret and James and baptised in a church somewhere between Tonbridge and East Grinstead not listed on the IGI. My only other sggestion is that you visit your local Mormon family centre and order the microfilm of the East Grinstead parish records to find when Joe Sr and wife were buried assuming they were still living in East Grinstead (their son Thomas Marden remained there). The burial record may include their ages at death.

Keep in touch if you find anything more.

Ian Dann
