I have been tracking a Dann family in Montreal. Amos Dann dies shortly before 1872 when his wife Hannah/Annie opens a boarding house. After the 1883/84 Montreal directory is posted, all Dann's disappear from the directory. Some move to Ontario, then North Dakota. I think your Amos is related, the timeframe is perfect. I would love to read your letter.
