This is an interesting inquiry! My tenth generation ancestor (Francis Dan) married an Elizabeth Clawson in Stamford, Connecticut in 1685. I have the genealogy for my line going back to Francis, but it does not contain a John Dann born in 1788. Most likely he is linked to a male descendent of Francis. The name Dan and Dann both appear in the records. Our line changed the spelling to Dann in the 19th century. Let me know if you would like my info.
