Since I posted this lineage I became aware of the great amount of confusion about Squire Dann's ancestors. It is published in 3 or 4 different versions at various places, in books and on the internet- mostly wrong.
My cousin, Pat Faller, went to considerable effort and expense to prove this line and had professional help in doing so. I can now provide the correct lineage, thanks to Pat.;
Information in the previous message about the family of Squire Dan(n) and Rachel Lockwood descendants is still correct to my understanding. Squire Dann was born 5/8/1755 in Stamford, Fairfield Co., CT and died there 3/25/1839. He is buried next to his wife Rachel at Simsbury Cem. in Stamford, CT. Squire married 2nd Delia Northrop, who died 11/8/1865 and is buried at High Ridge Cem., in Stamford, CT. Squire was an American Revolutionary veteran and his pension record is available from NARA.
Confusion was caused by several factors. There are 2 Squire Dans born in Stamford. There were several David Dann and Lockwood marriages.
Squire Dann is not the son of David Dan born in 1731 and Mercy Lockwood. He is the son of the elder David Dan, listed previously as born abt. 1693, but probably closer to 1700, and David's second wife, Mercy Scofield. This elder David Dan married 1st to Hannah Lockwood as previously stated.
David Dan and wife Hannah Lockwood had 2 sons named David. The first born 7/9/1731 in Stamford, CT. probably died young. The second born 5/11/1739 is the one who married Mercy Lockwood. Information on the children of David and Mercy needs to be corrected.
This family has confounded many for years, but Pats efforts have cleared up a lot of uncertainty. Either she or myself are happy to share more details with descendants. Pat Faller can be reached at "firstname.lastname@example.org"; I can be reached at "email@example.com".
