Bob Dansby 1870 Census

I'm looking for some help in tracing my family tree. I've hit a brick wall after finding my Great Great Grandfather Bob Dansby on the 1870 Census for Rusk County Texas. He was born around 1833 in Alabama, and I believe he was a slave who came from Alabama with his plantation owners near the end of the civil war when the union army began raiding that area of Alabama.

I checked and found that there were some Dansby's of european decent in Alabama in the mid 1800's. I checked the slave schedules of 1960 which unfortunately did not list the full names of slaves.

If anyone has any information concerning this, it would be very much appreciated.

L Dansby
