Doe-Daoust Family

After searching for years for My G.G. Grandfather's Family I was at a Standstill. He
always called hinself Jessie Doe in the Federal Censuses in MI. I knew where he was
in 1860, 1870 & 1880. He was in Port Huron in 1860 & in Detroit in 1870 & 1880.

They said he was from French Canada. However I ordered Quebec Church Records
constantly. I could never find a name like that. When we got a FHC here I ordered
Detroit death records & found My G. Grandfather's Brother's death. It listed his Mother
as being born Emelie Lalonde. I knew she was an Emelie from Census Records. I then
ordered Detroit City Directories. I found him at the same address in One Directory as
Jacinte Daoust & in another as Hyacinthe Daoust.

I ordered Loiselle marriage records & found there marriage in St-Polycarpe, Quebec.
Then it was just a matter of going backwards. I now have them to the 1580's in France.
So I was a Daoust, NOT a Doe.

Family Surnames, Daverdy, Aubert, Lalonde dit Lesperance, Pilon, Hunault, Ranger,
Sauve, Lalonde, Roy, Miville, Schwark, Delamarter.

Darlene T. Holling (Nee Doe)
