Regardless of the spelling, Fauquier Co. wasn't created until 1759. There's a record for Timothy Dargan in Stafford Co. in 1724 and there are later records in Prince William Co., the predecessor county of Fauquier.

What's the source for "Appleby" as Catherine's surname. A 1756 deed in Amelia Township, SC, mentions that Ann Watts was the sister of Catherine Dargan, but I have never seen any records to indicate that Cahterine's maiden name was Appleby. I have been doing research on Ann and her husband Francis Watts. They also lived in Stafford Co. and migrated to SC.
