I descend from a Michael Dargan of Killenaule Parish, County Tipperary.
He was married there on 14 Feb 1814 to Mary Stapleton.

They had at least 7 children: 1) Mary, b. Dec 1814; 2) James, b. Jan 1816;
3) Lawrence, b. Nov 1818; 4) Patrick, b. Jul 1826; 5) Catherine, b. May 1829;
6) Michael, b. Jan 1832; and 7) Richard, b. Jul 1834.

I think Mary married William Russell. James married Mary ___ (and had a son James, b. ca. 1861). Lawrence married and also had a son James, b. ca. 1870.

Catherine was my ancestor. She married Kearn McNeill in Madison, Wisc, in Apr 1856. Kearn and his wife Catherine, and Catherine's sister Mary Dargan Russell, all wound up in Chicago, IL, by 1865.

I think the three known emigrant Dargans (the sisters Mary and Catherine, and their brother Richard) first settled in Danbury, CT. Richard and his descendants stayed on in Danbury, while the two sisters went to the Midwest in the early 1850s.
