Do you think their could be a tie to this man (I noticed the Van Liew part of your post)

This is from the roster of the Iowa 37th Infantry --the "Greybeards" --all age 45 and over...

Darland, Vanloo.
Age 45. Residence Muscatine, nativity Ohio. Enlisted Nov. 19, 1862. Mustered Nov. 19, 1862. Mustered out May 24. 1865, Davenport, Iowa.

This man was born 15 Sep 1817 in Ohio and died 10 Oct 1865 age 48y 25d and is buried at Overman Cemetery in Atalissa Muscatine Co IA; the only other Darland in the cemetery is a small child William H Darland who died 23 Sep 1854 at age 9d and is the child of "F & M" Darland

I thought Vanloo might be a variation on Van Liew..its rather an odd name.
