What relationship do you have with the Darley's.
Well, to answer your question the Darley family
goes back a long way. The information I'm telling
you is from documents I got from my grandfather
Roy Darley who's sister did a background check on
The Darley family goes back to the time of the 11th
century. The founder of our family name was a Norman knight
in army of William The Conquerer. His name was Sir
Edmund Darley. When William The Conquerer invaded
England in 1066 my ancestor Sir Edmund was in his
army. William The Conquerer wouldn't have won the
Battle Of Hastings without him because he provided
William The Conquerer with a huge cavalry force and
because of this William won the Battle Of Hastings.
In return for his deeds he was knighted and was given
a large sum of land.
He settled in Wistow, York, England where many of the
Darley's lived for the next centuries. After that the
many Darley's moved all around the world to settle in
places such as the British Isles, America, Australia
and New Zealand.
My great great great grandfather John Darley came to
Australia in the 19th century. He came as a normal
citizen on the fifth fleet on a ship called the Lysander.
He had a son who's name I'm not sure of and his son,
my great grandfather was James Darley, followed by Roy
Darley my grandfather and then my father Gerald Darley
and then me.
