Dear Lynn,
It is dangerous to jump to conclusions, but your latest note about the Wicklow Darlingtons is quite exciting! The Elizabeth Darlington born in 1803 had at least one sister, named CATH (which, as you correctly guessed, is frequently the shortened version of Catherine). This sister Cath was baptised in Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow, on August 23rd 1812.When the baptism of a first child appears in church records, it is usually followed in subsequent years by baptisms of further children who have been born into the same family. For some reason, there was a gap of 9 years between these two births, with no other mention in those records to indicate that there may have been other siblings.I have a theory as to why this happened, which I can fill out for you at a later date, but it would be a great help if you knew of whether or not your grandfather received any visits through the years from any Irish Darlingtons who may have emigrated to the States from Ireland?I wait with fingers tightly crossed!!In the meantime, I will make out a note for you about such Wicklow Darlington families as are known to me.Jim.
