Jesse R. Townsend
Posted by: Bessie (Townsend) Ramey (ID *****2214) Date: July 02, 2004 at 08:20:04

Jesse R. Townsend, b. abt 1835-40, married Elma C. Darlington, daughter of Brinton Darlington, Indian Agent for the Cheyenne/Arapahoe in what is now Okla. Jesse worked for the Agency under Darlington and his successor, Jonathan Miles. The Agency was later named the Darlington Indian Agency in honor of Brinton Darlington.
We believe that Jesse is related to Edward Harley Townsend, b. 2Mar1846, d. 28Mar1894, who also worked in the Agency at the same time. Edward is in my direct line.
We are seeking information on Jesse's parents, sibs, etc.
Thank you.
