MAYBE??? Chester County, Pennsylvania is located on the border of northern the state of Delaware. Your John Darlington might be a son of a sibling of my Darlington connection.

I am descended from a Joseph Darlington was on a tax census as a single man in Aston Township in Chester County. He later married (circa 1720/1) to a Mary Irwin. Joseph Darlington's wife Mary took out letters of administration at his death in 1748. They had three children who lived to be adults: Grace (1723-1783) who married her first cousin, William Irwin (1722-1794), a son Robert Darlington (d. 1777) and a daughter, Mary who married Samuel White (d. 1789) and a daughter, Elizabeth Darlington who apparently died young.

Some of the Irwins went to the Carolinas, too. I know little about them. Have you learned more abut your Darlingtons. My e-mail is david.a.mccormick@gmail.com. My address is 824 Moore's Court, Brentwood, TN 37027
