Darlington Y-DNA on Ancestry.com

Folks, I've started a discussion group on www.ancestry.com called Darlington Y-DNA.
There are a great many Darlingtons descended from a common ancestor by the name of Darlington or possibly earlier the name Doernoth, an Anglo Saxon name originating in the region of Angeln Saxony.
At this stage only two Darlington individuals unknown to each other have undertaken Y-DNA and their results show they both belong to the same haplogroup (or DNA tribe. They both share a common ancestor going back more than 100 generations. Thats about 2,000 to 3,000 years.
There are many thousands of Darlingtons Turlingtons Derlingtones etc that are highly likely to be related, although very distantly.

some families with relatvely unique surnames such as the Galbraith, West, Speer etc have been able, through 20 or 30 simlilar surnames have been able to establish linkages with other namesakes as close as 10-12 generations (about 300-400 years)all living in different countries regions cities etc.
The purpose of the group is to find as many Darlingtons as possible and for all to compare Y-DNA and use it to find the pathway to their own particular ancestry.

Please join. Go to www.ancestry.com and go to DNA and search for Darlington Y-DNA. If you need help at all contact me.

Good luck.

Glenn Darlington
