I am not a relative of these persons.
I am seeking, for historical article, information (and, especially, photos) of this husband and wife.
This Francis J.A. [Joseph Andrew] Darr was son of well-known (at the time) Brig. Gen. Francis Darr; see http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=8774206, and himself a USMA grad, Class of 1880. He died c. 1920
His wife was born Elizabeth Swan Townsend, c. 1856, and died in the 1920's.
Both were in Guatemala for a brief period in the late-1880's, where he was a coffee grower and U.S. consul. They returned to the U.S. in the 1890's, and settled in Sunnyside, Gladstone, New Jersey.
She was an especially compelling figure in that she left her husband, another Army officer, and went to Guatemala with Darr, then aassigned at West Point. Quite a titillating scandal at the time. Lizzie Darr was obviously very well educated, and subsequently wrote, translated, or edited several books.
