This message is four years late, but here goes....
I've visited Youghall (pronounced Y'all), which is a short drive from Cork along the coast, so a connection seems likely. In Cork, I found that my great-grandfather's shop was a stone's throw from an old Huguenot church and that French Protestants did settle in some numbers in the city, so a French connection is also very likely.
I don't know anything about the 5 brothers, but my grandfather thought some of his relatives in Ireland spoke French.
The Dartnell in Paris is Veronique Dartnell, whom I never contacted.
The Cork Dartnells were connected to Bandon, a town just south of Cork, known as a Protestant bastion, "the Derry of the south". My father's cousin, Jim Dartnell, said that he visited Bandon and found family connections there. So Bandon could be a good place to search for more family ties.
