Thanks, Don--maybe this record (perhaps mistranscribed by someone at some point) is the source?

I do know there is a christening record for a Jane Wilkinson dated 10 March 1715, in North Farnham Parish, Richmond, Virginia, who is the daughter of a Charles and Jane Wilkinson. This can't be 'our' Jane Wilkinson (whose birth is not until June 1715!), but I have seen this record used to claim that 'our' Jane's father was named Charles.

Personally, I remain doubtful if we really do know Jane's surname--would still dearly love to find the original source for the 'Wilkinson,' either to confirm it's real or to find out how it arose!
