Mary (Cowan) Darwin of SC

Have any Darwin researchers documented the Cowan family that married into the Darwin and then the Petty family?

Here are notes on information sent to me:
James DARWIN b. 6-19-1744 prob. Louisa Co VA d. 1825 York Co SC br. Darwin Cemetery
+ Mary Cowan b. 9-14-1746 Augusta GA? (or 6-1-1746 Louisa VA?) d. 1818 York Co SC m. ca. 1766

Cowans seemed to be Old 96th Dist before 1765 (James and Mary prob married there?) and may have been in VA ca 1740. But another note says GA?

This is my family line via Thomas and Jane (Darwin) Petty--and have only few facts on this family. James and Mary (Cowan) Darwin's daughters Jane, Sarah, and Jeruska who married Thomas, Gabriel and Solomon Petty migrated to Dickson CO TN. Darwin sons also migrated to this part of TN, including Dickson, Hickman, Jackson counties TN and some on to Madison Co AL.

The Cowan name was used as a common son's name in the Darwin and Petty families. I would appreciate any information on this Cowan family.

I've read of cemeteries, but do not have an inventory:
Cowan Family Cemetery: York SC E of Hwy.40, West of Bullocks Creek in SW York Co
Darwin Family Cemetery: York SC near Broad River, off Hwy. 72 [One researcher did post from the Yorkville Enquirer, 1983, that James had an upright headstone erected for him in honor of his service in the Revolutionary War. It was placed in the Darwin Cemetery located on a high bluff on the east bank of the Broad River near the Salem-Irene Bridge, York, SC.]

And we know of Jame's Rev War service: “James Darwin, born 19 June 1744, also served in the South Carolina TN militia [in the Revolutionary War] for a total of 297 days for which he received payment amounting to £53-2s-10d sterling on 10 September 1784.”

Father of Mary: George Cowan?
I received information--Mary Cowan (b. 9-14-1746 (or 6-1-1746 Louisa VA) d. 1818 York Co SC) daughter of George Cowan.

Likely children of James and Mary (Cowan) Darwin:
i. JANE DARWIN ii. WILLIAM WASHINGTON DARWIN iii. GEORGE COWAN DARWIN iv. ANNE DARWIN v. SARAH DARWIN vi. JOHN M. DARWIN vii. NANCY DARWIN viii. JAMES W. DARWIN ix. JERUSHA DARWIN ix. "Miss" DARWIN

Thanks for any help.
