A little more `information' about Thomas Date & Anne Murphy: A connection in Ireland stated that the only Date he found was my Thomas, who was probably not born in Ireland. One family story has it that Thomas was living/working in Wales or Cornwall and Anne was there as perhaps a servant girl - they met and guess what, their first child, James, was born there (according to story); then the young family relocated to Anne's home town of Knockendrane in Carlow County, Ireland. Thomas is shown in the 1852 Griffiths Valuation there. The family emigrated to Canada, specifically Sarnia, Ontario (a boomtown at the time), where they lived the rest of their lives.

I'm so pleased to see so many Dates. When a youngster, I thought I was the only one with this funny little name. Now, I'm planning to put tacks on a map of the world so I can travel around, visiting all my cousins and stay for free !

Just kidding. I hope to read many more Date messages.

Ron Date
