When typing European names, getting the unlauts and accent-graves...etc in can be frustrating. Here is a tip on how you can put them in. On your system go to Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Character Map
This application allows you to enter different characters into what you are typing. You can either cut & paste the characters or you can type them in as you go. I have a chart on my monitor with the codes to the ones I use the most. They way you type them in directly is as follows:
an ae is an a with the umlauts which corresponds to a code 0228.
Hold down the ALT key on your keyboard and then hit the 0228 on your keypad, then release the ALT key..You have just typed in an ä. The zero in the code important, don't forget it. Here are some codes and characters that I use the most. The rest can be found in the Char Map...when you point to a character the code is shown in th elower right-hand corner of the window..
ALT 0228 ä
ALT 0235 ë
ALT 0246 ö
ALT 0252 ü
Good luck and good typing.
